BERHAMPUR: Two persons were killed and one was seriously injured in an accident near Hinjli on Monday night. The vehicle of Kavisuryanagar MLA Ladukishore Swain was involved in it. The victims were travelling on a bike on their way to Berhampur to take part in the Thakurani Jatra celebrations. The accident occurred on the National Highway number 217. They were hit by the car of Mr. Swain near Achikabandh pond near Hinjli. The MLA was in the car when the accident occurred. But the irony was that the MLA did not prefer to stop at the spot to make arrangements to transport the victims to hospital. According to eyewitnesses he preferred to leave the spot by another car. As the accident occurred at around 11 p.m. there were very few persons on the road. As a result, the victims could not be carried to any nearby hospital early. One of them died on the spot. The other died after reaching the Hinjli hospital. They were identified as Santosh Jena of Kankorada and Muna Jena of Adapada village.
Battling for life
The injured, Tinka Jena of Kankorada, is battling for life at the MKCG medical college hospital of the city. Three of them were friends, as they owned small kiosks near the Hinjli hospital. The citizens' committee of Hinjli demanded proper compensation for the two youths killed in the accident and the injured person.
