Be financially independent, Chief Minister tells women

ANANTAPUR: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy urged women to empower themselves by improving their earning capacity along with their men by taking up activities like dairy farming, sheep farming or any other income generating activity with the help of Indira Kranti Patham scheme.

Speaking at a meeting organised as part of Praja Patham at P.Yaleru of Atmakur mandal in the district on Tuesday he said the Government was willing to help the women as much as possible. They were given Rs. 108 crores bank linkage in the district during 2006-07 and would be given about Rs. 200 crores in 2007-08. The women groups had also got Rs. 4.5-crore benefit from the 25 paise interest scheme.The Chief Minister interacted with the beneficiaries of IKP, Indiramma, NREGS, Aarogya Sri, bio-diesel plantation and other Government schemes. The Chief Minister claimed that migrations were stopped to a large extent from the district due to the implementation of NREGS.
