90 villages to get facilities

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Gram sabha meetings were held in all the 450 panchayats in the district on Tuesday.

The District Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, participated in the meeting held at Inam Reddiyapatti in Virudhunagar panchayat union. Addressing the meeting, the Collector said that 90 panchayats, including Inam Reddiyapatti, would be covered under the `Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam' in which all amenities would be provided at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh to each local body.

The people of the respective panchayats should make use of the gram sabha meeting to decide on what development work should be taken up under the scheme. Stating that the district administration had received 29,000 petitions seeking house site pattas during the special camps conducted in the district, the Collector said that applications seeking pattas were still being accepted.

The Assistant Director (Panchayats), Selvaraj, the panchayat president, Chandran, were present.
