Scary pedestrians with a will to fight back
EVERYONE KNOWS how the city is callous to pedestrians. If these underdogs are not picking their way gingerly through uneven pavements or pot-holed roads, they are dodging fearsome vehicles which don't bother to stop for them even at zebra crossings. But once in a way the worm turns. Spotted on M.G. Road were would-be pedestrians getting off a moving bus right in the middle of the traffic. They impudently gestured to the row of cars behind them to stop, scaring the daylights out of the drivers. At least six of these drivers slammed their brakes as they watched the men nimbly hop on to the pavement, unmindful of the risk they posed to themselves and to the drivers' no-claims insurance bonuses.
