HYDERABAD: The four-day Indian Plastics Exposition-2007 (IPLEX) that concluded at the Hitex Exhibition Grounds here on Monday, generated orders ranging between Rs. 200-250 crores, well below the expected range of Rs. 400-450 crores. However, Anil Reddy, president, Andhra Pradesh Plastics Manufacturers' Association, on Tuesday expressed confidence of achieving the target in another six months. He told The Hindu that associations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala that jointly hosted the exposition with the support of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and Plastindia Foundation were assessing the orders booked.
Next in Kerala
The next exposition is to be hosted by the Kerala Plastics Manufacturers' Association in May/June 2009. IPLEX, that moved out of New Delhi's Pragati Maidan for the first time to Hyderabad, benefited visitors and 270 exhibitors. "Everyone appreciated the infrastructure made available by State Government. Visitors, particularly entrepreneurs from districts, were happy that the expo widened their comprehension. Same was the case with manufacturers who were flooded with enquiries." The India Centre for Plastics and Environment Visitors also briefed visitors on various plastic products, including recycled end products.
Seminar
A two-day international seminar was also organised as part of the expo wherein speakers from Japan, China and Europe addressed the 120 delegates.
