NEW DELHI: Three men have been arrested by a joint team of the Crime Branch and South Delhi police for alleged involvement in the murder of a 19-year-old man here at Hazrat Nizamuddin. The police received a complaint from Mohammad Umar on March 28 that his son Mahboob had gone missing on March 25. While a search for Mahboob was on, Umar contacted the police and raised suspicion that three persons -- Naseem, Mumtaz and Ashu -- had abducted him. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case and a joint team of the Crime Branch and the South Delhi police tracked down the three suspects. During interrogation, they purportedly confessed to having murdered Mahboob as they suspected that he had an illicit relationship with Naseem's wife. The police claimed that on March 25, the accused invited Mahboob to a drinking session and after consuming liquor, they took him to a drain where they drowned him. They then allegedly disposed of the body in a pile of garbage. The police said they recovered the highly decomposed body of Mahboob at their instance. His purse and mobile phone were also recovered from the spot.
