dated May 3, 1957 : A counter-challenge

The Kerala Chief Minister, Mr. E.M.S. Nambudiripad, threw a counter-challenge to the Union Finance Minister, Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari, that if the Congress Government could solve the unemployment problem in the country within a specified period, he would become a "Congressman." Mr. Krishnamachari had said at a meeting in Madras that if the Communist Government in Kerala could find a solution to the problem of "educated unemployment," he would become a Communist. Referring to this, Mr. Nambudiripad said in Ernakulam that nothing could be solved by indulging in "demagogic challenges."
