Indian Idol Part III is here

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The third season of "Indian Idol", the hugely popular adaptation of the blockbuster "Pop Idol" format, premieres on Sony Entertainment Television this Friday.

The first episode will take off with aspirants from Delhi performing before a panel of judges comprising singers Annu Malik, Alisha Chinai and Udit Narayan. Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar will be the guest-judge for the episode.

A touch of drama

The episode opens with a touch of drama as Annu Malik and Javed Akhtar get into a war of words over Shubhangi, one of the participants.

She sings her way to Annu's heart as he immediately announces that she has made it to Mumbai. But Javed Akhtar feels otherwise and opines that she needs to work on her diction.

Another young man from Delhi lands up for audition with a bouquet in one hand, a large poster in the other and a song on his lips. As the shocked judges look on, he breaks into "Happy birthday, Alisha!" and even gifts her a teddy bear.
