NEW DELHI: Philips on Wednesday announced its entry into the Indian water purifier market. "The Rs. 450-crore market is growing fast and we want to lead the segment by 2010,'' Philips Indian subcontinent CEO, K. Ramachandran, said here on Wednesday after launching the new range of water purifying systems. The Philips range of water purifiers is priced between Rs. 8,500 and Rs. 12,000, while the company is planning to develop low-cost water purifiers to target consumers in towns and rural areas. "We will be selling our water purifying systems through various retail outlets. We are also talking to real estate developers to install Philips products in their upcoming projects and other apartments,'' Mr. Ramachandran said. The new water purifying systems would come with a battery back-up. The company was planning to extend its network across the country and the entire product range would be available in 90 cities by September, he added.
