Letters to the Editor
This refers to the editorial `Beware of partisan temptations' (May 2). Though a hung Assembly is predicted in Uttar Pradesh, it is the duty of the Governor to allow the members to take oath and constitute the Assembly as soon as the Election Commission hands over the list of elected MLAs. The MLAs form part of the electoral college for the presidential election.
C.P. Velayudhan Nair,
* * * There have been indications that the ruling front at the Centre is planning something for the presidential elections next month. However, it is hoped that an alert media and an active judiciary will not let any such thing to happen.
Col. C.V. Venugopalan (retd.),
* * * A well-intentioned editorial that has become essential because of some of the unjust happenings in the recent past. The saying "prevention is better than cure" has always been relevant, never more than in the present time.
K.D. Viswanaathan,
