Tamil Eelam will come into being soon: Vaiko

Special Correspondent

CUDDALORE: Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko said here on Tuesday that a new nation would be born in our neighbourhood. He was addressing the State conference of the Marumalarchi Labour Front.

When a clarification was sought, Mr. Vaiko said Tamil Eelam would come into being soon. The efforts taken so far would ultimately yield fruits and one need not be pessimistic on this score.

Mr. Vaiko said the MDMK had been consistently supporting the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils. When there was talk of supplying radars to the Sri Lankan Army (to track down LTTE aircraft), he had asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh whether it would amount to taking action against the Tamils there. He quoted the Prime Minister as saying that when the Centre faced such a situation it would consider it.

Mr. Vaiko said it was common knowledge that the Sri Lankan Air Force had bombed civilian areas.
