Ludhiana: JCT defeated defending champion Mahindra United 1-0 in the 16th round of the National Football League match here on Wednesday. The teams were locked goalless at half-time. The all-important goal was scored by Edeh Chidi, who beat at least four defenders before shooting into the net in the 70th minute. Mahindra United mounted pressure but JCT goalkeeper Karamjit came up with several brilliant saves to thwart the Mumbai team. JCT now has 25 points, while Mahindra United has 27 points. — PTI
