CHENNAI: Effluents discharged from E.I.D.Parry, Nellikuppam, is within permissible limits fixed by the Pollution Control Board, Environment Minister T.P.M. Mohideen Khan told the Assembly on Wednesday. Replying to a calling attention motion by Pattali Makkal Katchi MLA T. Velmurugan, he said if the member was of the view that the discharge from the mills was polluting water bodies in and around the area, the Government was ready to take action, in consultation with the local farmers, Agricultural University, Pollution Control Board experts and company representatives. Earlier, Mr. Velmurugan contended that the effluents from the mill had polluted water bodies in the area. Water in nearby wells had turned unfit for drinking and irrigation purposes.
