Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Water supply will be available at low pressure this Friday at Kanti Nagar, Bhola Nath Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Raghuwarpura, Manak Vihar, Surajmal Vihar, Vivek Vihar and adjoining areas in the Capital due to pipeline inter-connection work.

Residents of these areas have been advised to store water in advance and if necessary contact the Delhi Jal Board on 22374834 for the water-tanker service.

IGNOU to train Panchayat leaders

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will in the distance-mode train Panchayati Raj leaders across the country. The training programme would aim at teaching the Panchayat leaders how to deal with issues such as health, education and sanitation.

`I entrust IGNOU with the task of preparing a roadmap on imparting training to 26 lakh panchayat members,'' Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said on Wednesday addressing a brainstorming session on capacity-building of the panchayat members.

Kumbabishekam

NEW DELHI: Sri Muthu Mariamman Temple will organise "Jeernoddharana Mahakumbabishekam" at its E-Block, Khyala, premises here this Sunday.

According to the temple's Kumbhabhisheka Committee, "Jeernoddharana Mahakumbabishekam" will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 8-15 a.m. by "Sarvasaadakam" Nattarasankottai Sivasri M. S. Thyagraja Gurukkal.

Renovation work on the temple's damaged structure has been carried out and idols of Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva-Parvati, Kalyana Ramar, Lord Murugan (Karthikeya) and Sheeradi Sai Baba procured from Tamil Nadu have been installed.

May Day meeting

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Union of Journalists organised a May Day meeting of journalists and press workers here on Monday.

Addressed by veteran journalists and union leaders, the meeting called for establishment of a Media Commission. May Day and the 58th anniversary of DUJ were jointly celebrated as "Solidarity Divas".
