BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has instructed all District Collectors to ensure timely payment of wages to labourers under the employment guarantee scheme. Addressing the Collectors through "Samadhan" online from Mantralaya here, the Chief Minister asked the Collectors to pay special attention to ensuring proper arrangements for potable water in the rural areas. If necessary, the Collectors should provide transport facilities for supply of drinking water to the villagers, he said, adding that all hand pumps be repaired on a priority basis and new ones be installed keeping in view the requirements. The Chief Minister directed the Collectors to ensure that there is absolute objectivity and fairness on the part of the officials responsible for maintaining and updating the Below Poverty Line (BPL) list. He said any discrepancies in the BPL list would not be tolerated and those responsible would be punished. Mr. Chauhan asked the Collectors to take special measures to ensure regular availability of wheat and kerosene in the districts and said that irregularities in ration distribution should be reported to the police. The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over unsatisfactory conditions prevailing in districts like Harda and Rewa and said the villagers should not be harassed. "Their smallest grievances should be redressed," he added.
