THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said that the official inquiry into encroachments and unauthorised constructions at Munnar is progressing efficiently. The details are being collected and action taken on the basis of that. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court, on Wednesday, declined to stay further proceedings of "stop memo" issued by revenue authorities against illegal constructions made on Government land at Munnar. Following reports of widespread land grab in Munnar, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan visited the area recently. The revenue officials had issued stop memo, directing to stop further constructions. Manoharan, a builder, approached the court seeking to quash the memo. Justice P.R. Ramachandran Nair refused to grant it and posted the case after vacation. Speaking to presspersons after a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday, he said that the date of signing of agreement for the Smart City Project would be announced by the Dubai TECOM authorities shortly. The Government had suggested signing of the agreement before April 30. As this was inconvenient to the promoters, they had been asked to fix a date. The agitation by the evictees would be settled amicably. He said the Government did not propose any further inquiry into the complaints against the Muringoor Divine Retreat Centre. The police on the basis of a court directive had done the investigation and had submitted a first information report. He could not comment on the developments without knowing the details, Mr. Achuthanandan said.
