Buddha Poornima celebrated with fervour

WORSHIP: Poojya Siddarama Sharanaru of Beldal Math in Bidar and Radhabai Mallikarjun Kharge offering flowers to the idol of Lord Buddha at Siddhartha Vihar in Gulbarga on the occasion of Buddha Poornima on Wednesday.

GULBARGA: The 2551st Buddha Poornima was celebrated with religious fervour by Buddhists, who offered prayers at Buddha Vihars in different parts of the district.

In Gulbarga city, a festive atmosphere prevailed in the newly constructed sprawling Siddhartha Vihar on the outskirts of the city, with people flocking to offer their obeisance to the newly erected idol of Lord Buddha.

Special prayers were conducted in the morning by Poojya Banthe Bhodhi Pragnya and other Buddha Bikkus. Prominent among those who participated in the prayers included Poojya Siddarama Sharanaru of Beldal Math in Bidar, Radhabhai Kharge, wife of former Minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president M. Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Dalit leader Shivaram Mogha, Sharanaprakash Patil, MLA, and Registrar of Gulbarga University P.M. Bayeen.
