`Organise functions to commemorate Tipu Sultan'

PLEA: Members of Azad Tipu Sangharsha Samiti and Azad Alpasankhyathara Pragathipara Sangha presenting a memorandum demanding that functions be organised on the birth and death anniversaries of Tipu Sultan, in Hassan on Wednesday.

HASSAN: Members of Azad Tipu Sangharsha Samiti and Azad Alpasankhyathara Pragathipara Sangha staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Wednesday.

They submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the district administration demanding that the Government organise functions on the birth and death anniversaries of Tipu Sultan.

Organising functions on these days at all party offices, releasing stamps and coins on Tipu Sultan, instituting an award in his name to be given to people who helped protect the country, installing his statue at Parliament House and the Vidhana Soudha, besides naming roads, circles and development projects after him were among the demands.
