`No capitation fee being charged'

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: The Cooperative Medical College in Kochi and the five engineering colleges under the Cooperative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) have collected only the fee fixed by the Government after it came to power, the director of CAPE said here on Wednesday.

None of the institutions under the agency had collected capitation fee after the present Government assumed office, he said.

He described as wrong and unfortunate the statements made by the All India Students Federation (AISF) on the issue.

Cooperative sector

The new colleges proposed to be opened in the cooperative sector would be backed by the Government and the local sponsoring committees. The fee fixed by the Government would be applicable to them also.

No additional fee or capitation fee would be collected. The CAPE was governed fully by the policy which was drawn up and being implemented by the Government, he added.
