COLOMBO: France based GlobeCast, a satellite Television and radio channel distribution company stopped relaying Tamil Television Network (TTN) on Wednesday evening, TamilNet has reported. It said the TTN was blocked after receiving instructions from the French broadcasting authority. "The TTN, with 22,000 viewers among the Tamil diaspora in Europe and Middle East, is a Paris-based Tamil television network employing over 30 people. It has been broadcasting entertainment and news programmes in Tamil for the past seven years," TamilNet said. On April 24, Sri Lanka's envoy in Washington said his office was assured by the Washington- based Intelsat Corporation that they had switched off the transponder used by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to broadcast its propaganda. "We were told last evening by Intelsat executive Phillip Spector that the transponder used by the LTTE was switched off during the weekend," Ambassador Bernard Goonetileke was quoted by the Sri Lanka Defence Ministry website as saying.
