CHENNAI:
Mayor M. Subramanian on Wednesday launched a project to supply drinking water for residents of parts of Old Washermenpet.
Residents of ward 13 (Bojaraja Nagar, Srinivasapuram, Mint Model City) had a longstanding demand for adequate water supply in the locality. Drinking water pipes would be laid at a cost of about Rs.40 lakh, the Mayor said.
The facility would serve about 500 families. Mr. Subramanian also interacted with residents of ward 12. He said roads would be repaired and new ones laid at a cost of Rs.18.8 lakh.
A Corporation health centre would be renovated at a cost of Rs.8.5 lakh.
The Mayor said he would make more ward-level visits, apart from regular grievance hearing programmes at the zonal level every Friday.
On Thursday, the Mayor will receive petitions from pensioners and their families at Ripon Building at 3 p.m. He will present cheques to those whose benefits were overdue.
