Chamber to bring out new tabloid

Special Correspondent

KOCHI: The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry which has entered its 150th year of service to trade and industry has decided to bring out a bimonthly `newspaper' titled `Cochin Chronicle' to commemorate the momentous event.

The paper in tabloid form narrates the historical facts concerning Kochi woven around the chamber's activities.

The inaugural issue contains interesting articles on the tea trade, interview with Falk Reitz, founder of European Foundation for Indian Heritage Monuments, a cameo on Ivan D'Costa who has precious Portuguese documents in his possession, the migration of the Gujaratis to Kerala, the history of the K.B. Jacob Road, and to cap it all, a cookery column wafting in the tastes of the past.

It is nostalgia time, as Jose Dominic, president of the chamber, recalls, adding that there was too often a tendency to brush aside the past and to forget that our present was shaped by the amalgam of the many cultures that passed our shores.
