Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress and BJP Yuva Morcha activists took out protest marches to SAT Hospital here in protest against the alleged neglect by the authorities which had led to the death of several newborns due to infection. Though they tried to force their way in, the heavy police posse posted at the hospital prevented them from entering the hospital. The hospital had a slew of visitors on Wednesday. State Human Rights Commission chairperson N. Dinakar, who met the SAT authorities, has suo motu taken a case regarding the incident. He also sent a notice to hospital authorities that a report be submitted within 15 days. Chairperson of the State Women's Commission D. Sreedevi also visited the hospital. She said the Commission would study the deficiencies in the system that had led to the incident. District Collector N. Ayyappan; Health secretary-in-charge Lida Jacob; V. Sivankutty, MLA; and Congress leaders M.M. Hassan, V. S. Sivakumar and G. Karthikeyan; were also present.
