HYDERABAD: For Srushthi, Suresh, Sindhu and others, it was a magical day and they would remember it for days to come. Though suffering from life threatening illnesses and coping with long periods of hospitalisation and medication, smiles lit up their faces, as they watched their favourite animation movie Walt Disney's Aladdin and how the `Genie' granted all the wishes of the Aladdin. The children had their wishes too. Srushthi and Sindhu wanted doll sets, Suresh, a colourful toy car. Rudra Kumar's idol is Sachin Tendulkar and his fond wish was for a cricket kit and Anusha wanted a beautiful Punjabi suit, while Sudha wanted jeans, t-shirt and a teddy bear. Their joy knew no bounds when Walt Disney's `Genie' turned up at Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills where the children gathered to watch the movie and gave away the gifts they always longed for, thanks to the `Make A Wish Foundation'. The children cheered the `Genie', accepted their gifts and queued up for a picture with him. Their family members, volunteers of the foundation and doctors were a happier lot seeing the beaming faces of children, who for a while forgot their pain. The event was organised by the Make A Wish Foundation of India. Disney works with the foundation closely. Similar programmes will also be organised at hospitals in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa and Delhi.
