Breakdown in Metro services

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro railway services were affected on Wednesday because of a "signalling system failure".

"There was a breakdown in the signalling system around 5 p.m. and our experts rectified the technical snag by 8-45 p.m.," said a senior Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official.

The technical fault reported on Line 3 of the network between Barakhamba and Punjabi Bagh stations affected traffic movement along nine stations.

According to the official, passengers were inconvenienced because of the trains running behind schedule.

"The frequency of the trains running on two sections of Line 3 came down. Passengers had to wait for over 20 minutes at stations. Some of the passengers who had purchased tokens but chose not to wait for the trains were given a refund," he added.

The DMRC official said work was being carried out to rectify the breakdown.
