KOCHI: The former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer who was the Law Minister in the first Government of Kerala and P. Govinda Pillai who was a member of the first Assembly were given a reception at the Rajendra Maidan on Wednesday as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the first Kerala Government. Inaugurating a public meeting, Mr. Krishna Iyer said the aim of the first Government was not to make a revolution possible but to implement land reforms and Gandhian education policies that would benefit the common people. Mr. Govinda Pillai said the statement made by Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi that those who had come to power in the first Government were inexperienced was not realistic or based on facts. He said that C. Achutha Menon, who had been recognised even by the Congress as one of the best administrators the State has ever seen, was part of the first Government. Mr. Iyer and Mr. Pillai were honoured by Minister for Public Works T.U. Kuruvilla. Fisheries Minister S. Sarma presided.
