Damaged road troubles residents

Staff Reporter

ERODE: At the Nethaji Road - Venkatachalam Road junction is a hole on the culvert, threatening to damage the entire structure.

Given that it is a road that sees frequent movement of heavy vehicles and smaller ones ferrying goods to the textile market, road users are worried.

Already, places around the hole have started giving in, with the rest appearing to only follow suit. Below the culvert is the drain, which is choked.

Road users fear that given the heavy movement of people, many might fall inside and hurt themselves.

They also fear vehicles getting stuck at the hole, considering the fact that the Venkatachalam Road is more a lane than a road.

Road users say the hole has been unattended for the past couple of months and that they want the Erode Municipality to immediately attend to the repair.
