Krishnagiri: Collector Santhosh Babu directed panchayat presidents to expedite the development works taken up under the Anaithu Gramam Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) in Krishnagiri district. A total of 67 village panchayats have been selected under the scheme in the current fiscal.

He explained the objectives and the procedures of the scheme to the panchayat presidents at a training programme here on Thursday. He also instructed them to identify development works that could be carried under the scheme.

Development works such as formation of concrete paths, laying of drinking water pipelines, creation of ponds, building reading rooms, crematorium improvement works and establishment of playgrounds and improvement of village markets could be carried out under the scheme.

The scheme was aimed at the holistic development of villages. All villages in the district would be covered under the scheme under a phased manner.

Earlier, the Collector reviewed the progress of road-development works from Thummalahalli to Kalakondapalli at an outlay of Rs.27 lakh under NABARD scheme. He also reviewed the progress of various development works taken up in Avalapalli and Hosur.
