TREAT FROM HOLLYWOOD: HBO presents "Summer Cocktail"
Grab an ice cream and take a comfortable seat at home as HBO presents "Summer Cocktail", a repertoire of successful Hollywood films, beginning this Friday. HBO is bringing some of the best Hollywood films -- an eclectic mix of action, drama, adventure, romance and comedy -- on television for the first time in South Asia. It has exclusive licensing deals with four major Hollywood studios -- Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia/ TriStar), Universal and Warner Bros. While a small reel of 8 mm changes the life of a surveillance expert Tom Welles (Nicolas Cage) in "8MM" on Friday, cinema lovers can re-visit the world that existed 65 years ago in "A Sound of Thunder" that will be screened on Saturday. Challenging the bad guys to a game of basketball will be Bugs Bunny in "Space Jam" on May 11. Bugs recruits basketball legend Michael Jordan to help him defeat the baddies. Julian Morris as Owen Mitchelle along with his friends plays a prank about receiving e-mails about a serial killer, the wolf. Owen's efforts to save his friends and himself from being the next victim in "Cry Wolf" will be on view on May 12. There is a battle royal between Jennifer Lopez and mother-in-law Jane Fonda in "Monster-in-law" premiering on May 18. After years of looking for Mr. Right, Jennifer finally finds the man of her dreams in Michael Vartan. However, she later discovers that Jane Fonda is the woman of her nightmares. Taking film lovers on an exciting trip to North Pole to meet Santa is "The Polar Express" that will be screened on May 19. A lonely boy wondering over Santa's existence gets an invitation to take an extraordinary ride to North Pole. He finds other children in the express to North Pole and becomes a fortunate receiver of an extraordinary gift that only the believers of Santa can experience. Enjoy a night of romance with Will Smith on May 25 in "Hitch". The supernatural world comes alive as a compelling hybrid of horror and courtroom drama, spawns a whole set of disturbing and thought-provoking questions on ones beliefs in evil and supernatural in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" on May 26. -- Madhur Tankha
