In town to spread some good cheer and hope among children suffering from life-threatening illnesses, Walt Disney Company's magical character Genie from the Aladdin story made a special appearance at Apollo Hospital in Delhi on Thursday. Genie is in the country for the first time to specially support the Make-A-Wish Foundation's cause.

The event was organised for Make-A-Wish Foundation of India as part of its celebrations on completing 11 successful years of fulfilling wishes of suffering children across the country. The Foundation works towards fulfilling the most sought wish of a child suffering from a life-threatening illness in order to provide happiness and strength to fight the diseases.

Speaking about the event, Founder and Managing Trustee of Make-A-Wish Foundation of India Uday Joshi said: "Disney has been a very important supporter of the Foundation and Genie's presence definitely was a treat for the kids and played a big role in making the day unforgettable for the children.''

As part of this first India tour, Disney's Genie will visit hospitals in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Goa apart from Delhi to fulfil wishes of children.

The fun event at the Apollo Hospital auditorium on Thursday began with a special screening of the all-time favourite movie "Aladdin''. As a special surprise, Genie thrilled the children by making a magical appearance and spent time with them. With Genie in town, the wishes of a few kids did come alive on stage.

Associate Director (Corporate Communications) of Walt Disney Company (India) K. Seshsaye said: "Disney is committed to brightening children's lives when they need it the most. We are privileged to be part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation efforts to touch the lives of children cross the world and especially here in India.'' -- Bindu Shajan Perappadan
