The new plant, to be set up on 600 acres of land in Alwar district, is scheduled to be commissioned by the last quarter of 2009 -- when the first car is expected to roll out -- and will have an initial installed capacity of 60,000 units per year.
HSCIL, a joint venture between Honda Motor of Japan and Siddarth Shriram Group firm Siel Limited, has its existing car manufacturing unit in Greater Noida.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Industries Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi. Principal Secretary (Industries) Ashok Sampatram signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government, and HSCIL Chairman and CEO Masahiro Takedagawa on behalf of his company.
Job opportunity
Ms. Raje expressed the hope that the objective of social and economic development of common people would be achieved in the State along with the industrial development. She noted that over 1,000 people would get employment in the project's first phase.
Ms. Raje pointed out that Rajasthan was fast emerging as an investor-friendly State and the automobile manufacturing units would play a significant role in raising the State's growth rate.
She said the establishment of Bhiwadi Industrial Development Authority in Alwar district would help in integrated development of industrial areas.
