BAI gives last chance to top stars

HYDERABAD: The Badminton Association of India has given one last chance to National champion B. Chetan Anand, National women's doubles champions Jwala Gutta and Shruthi Kurien to be in contention for the national team selection by inviting them for the selection trials from May 6 to 8 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium here.

After the trials the Indian team will be announced for the Sudirman Cup for which the last date of submitting the team list is May 10.

The BAI joint secretary, K.Ch. Punnaiah Choudhary, said this was considered the one last option left with the top brass of the BAI and also the final opportunity for the shuttlers to make themselves available for selection.

"The trials will be in the format of league matches like in any other selections and even those who sought permission to join the on-going national camp late but could not do so for personal reasons, are also being invited," he said. — Principal Correspondent
