Atwal to tee off in Fort Smith Classic

Fort Smith (USA): Arjun Atwal will continue his search for form and a climb back into the elite ranks of the PGA Tour when he tees off at the Fort Smith Classic at Hardscrabble Country Club, a Nationwide Tour event.

Atwal is restricted to limited starts on the PGA Tour and has been playing events on the Nationwide Tour. He even had a top-10 finish in late March.

This week, Atwal plays with Curtis Malm and Chad Collins. The Indian golfer, the Asian Tour No. 1 in 2003, will have for company another former Asian Tour player, Edward Loar, who is also playing in the U.S. this year.

Among past winners of the Fort Smith Classic are Zach Johnson, who won the Masters this year, Mark Hensby — winner of the 2004 John Deere Classic — and 2005 champion Chris Couch, who also won the 2006 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Last year's champion Darron Stiles, who is a member of the PGA Tour this year, will also be in the field. — PTI
