CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to formulate 100 new Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the rural areas to make the poor people living in rural areas self-reliant, Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal said here on Thursday. She disclosed that Rs. 20 lakhs had been earmarked as assistance for the promotion of these SHGs that would help in generating additional employment opportunities in rural areas. Each of these Self Help Group would consist of at least 20 people who would be engaged in trades like carpentry and making of masalas, pickles, zari jootis, shoes, rosary beads of Tulsi and sandalwood and quality earthen ware.
