Sangareddy: A couple was burnt alive by a mob in front of their house at Ullitimmayapalli village of Chegunta mandal on Thursday on suspicion that they were practising banamati. Villagers attacked the couple, Pandla Chinnasailu (70) and his wife Pochamma (65), poured kerosene on them, and torched them. By the time police reached the village, it was too late and found only a few bobes and ashes. The Sub-Inspector of police, Chegunta, said the suspect, Pandla Rajaiah, a relative of the victim, believed that Chinnasailu and his wife caused the death of his buffalo with the held of black magic.
The villagers also suspected the couple of causing death to cattle in the past. Police have arrested one person and are on the lookout for the others.
