68 more properties sealed in Delhi

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday sealed 68 illegal commercial establishments on mixed land use category roads across seven municipal zones in the Capital.

In South Zone, 12 commercial premises running from above the ground floor were sealed on Dr. Ambedkar Marg. In adjoining Central Zone, four properties were targeted for misuse of residential premises in Lajpat Nagar Part-II. In Rohini Zone, one property was sealed in Sector-1. Similarly MCD sealing squads targeted eight properties on Loha Market Road and P-2 Block Road falling under Najafgarh Zone.

In the trans-Yamuna area, a total of 34 commercial units were targeted for flouting mixed land use norms -- 23 properties on Moti Ram Road in Shahdara (North) and Lal Bahadur Hospital Marg in Shahdara (South).

In West Zone, only seven properties were sealed on Dabri Road in Janakpuri. However, no violations were found in Civil Lines Zone.

Abandoned baby admitted to Apollo

NEW DELHI: A 24-day-old baby abandoned by his parents at a private hospital in neighbouring Gurgaon after they found that the child was critically ill has now been admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital here.

His parents have shown up claiming that they had abandoned him earlier because they were unable to bear his medical expenses.

According to a release issued by Apollo Hospital, the child is a pre-term baby weighing 1.6 kg. "The echo test conducted on the baby showed a large hole in the heart. The medical management for heart failure was initiated immediately and the child is being fed through a tube in his stomach. The doctors also suspect that the child may have some infection as the blood count is high,'' it added.

A hospital official added the main objective of the team was to increase the child's weight.

Man found murdered

NEW DELHI: A 34-year-old man was found murdered at Vijay Vihar here on Wednesday night.

According to the police, Krishan Pal, a resident of Sultanpuri, was found dead on Vijay Vihar Road opposite a cremation ground around 9 p.m. His throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon, the police said. Krishan was a dye-maker.

Two arrested for auto-theft

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested at Chander Nagar here for their alleged involvement in several cases of auto-theft.

According to the police, Dhiraj Singh and Charanjit Singh were arrested during a routine check of vehicles. They failed to produce the registration certificate for their motorcycle and on cross-verification the vehicle was found to be stolen from Kalkaji, the police said.

Bharat Nirman Super Achiever Award

NEW DELHI: "Community Against Drunk Driving" president Prince Singhal was presented the Bharat Nirman Super Achiever Award (Public Service) at a function here over the weekend for initiating a movement against drunken driving.
