dated May 5, 1957: Mao on Sino-Soviet unity

Chinese President Mao Tse-tung has said that the monolithic unity of the Chinese and Soviet people had once again been demonstrated to the whole world during the present visit of Soviet President Kliment Voroshilov to China. Speaking at a banquet given in honour of the visiting Soviet President, Mao said the solidarity and friendship between the two countries constituted a reliable guarantee of world peace and the progress of mankind. Mr. Voroshilov, replying, said China, with its 600 million population, had become one of the leading countries of the socialist world.
