Infant put in care of fondling home

KOZHIKODE: A 10-day-old infant who had been given in adoption to a woman without the due legal process was placed in the care of the Fondling Home of the Kerala State Child Welfare Committee at Malappuram.

The illegal adoption of the infant by a family at Ummanaparambil in Panangad grama panchayat was brought to the notice of the authorities concerned when Kudumbasree workers filed a complaint with the District Collector through the District Child Welfare Committee.

A team comprising district social welfare officer P. Balakrishnan; secretary of Child Welfare Committee V. Sundaran; and other officials concerned took charge of the infant and placed it in the care of the fondling home.
