NEW DELHI: Seeking to put at rest speculation over a possible curtailment of the Parliament session ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election results, the Government on Friday said the business agenda till May 15 was already prepared but refrained from giving the Opposition any assurance on the matter. Raising the issue during zero hour in the Lok Sabha, V.K. Malhotra of the Bharatiya Janata Party said there were rumours that the House might be adjourned ahead of the announcement of the results so that Centre could impose President's rule in Uttar Pradesh in the event of the elections throwing a hung Assembly. The BJP sought an assurance that the session would go on till May 22 as per schedule. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said there was no connection between the Parliament session and the U.P. results. It was an established practice that only next week's business, and not a month's business, would be announced in the House. He had informed Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani of the Lok Sabha business till May 15. ``It seems there is a big communication gap between the Leader of Opposition and his deputy,'' Mr. Dasmunsi said. Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said the matter could not be raised without proper notice. These issues were decided at the Business Advisory Committee meeting.
