Heavy winds damage crops

ANANTAPUR: Several parts of the district recorded moderate rainfall on Thursday night. Heavy winds coupled with rain also damaged the standing horticulture crops such as papaya, mango, banana and others in different parts.

According to the officials, the mandals where more than 10 mm rainfall was recorded were — Anantapur (30.2 mm), Rapthadu (18.2), Atmakur (45.2), Kudair (30.2), B.K.Samudram (12.6), Tadipatri (12.2), Yadiki (43), Putlur (13.4), Gooty (31), Pamidi (10), Vajrakarur (40.6), Dharmavaram (15.2), C.K.Palli (28), Kanaganapalli (40) and Ramagiri (48).

Besides, Penukonda (20), Somadepalli (35.2), Roddam (27), Kothacheruvu (27.4), Gudibanda (31), Rolla (13.6), Agali (16.4), Hindupur (19), Parigi (10), Chilamattur (22.4), Gorantla (34), Kadiri (34.6), Mudigubba (13.8), Nallamada (44.4), N.P.Kunta (13.8), Talupula (24.6), Nallacheruvu (32.6), O.D.Cheruvu (28.2), Tanakal (14), Amdagur (12.4) and Gandlapenta (49.6) mandals also recorded rainfall.
