Court frames charge-sheet against police officials

PATNA: The special CBI court on Friday framed charges against 14 persons including an IPS officer and a retired IPS officer of the rank of Inspector-General of Police in the uniform purchase scam carried out during 1982-85.

The CBI judge R. Rai framed charges against eight officials of the provisions wing of the police department and six contractors for embezzlement of Rs. 24 lakh in the purchase of uniforms.

The judge dismissed the discharge petition filed by the retired IPS officer Ramchandra Khan, who was then IG Provisions, and framed charges against him accusing him of indulging in fraud and criminal conspiracy under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
