THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI(M) State secretariat has criticised the Union Government decision to slash the State's share in the Central pool power by 168 MW. In a statement here on Friday, the CPI(M) leadership said the cut had been effected at a time when the State was getting 1168 MW power as its share. The grave situation arising from this could be tackled only by raising generation, which would not be easy given the precarious water level in the State. The Government had drawn up various power generation schemes keeping such situations in mind, but a tendency to oppose all types of power generation schemes was gathering momentum in the State. Even projects that would not cause any environmental damage were being opposed.
