Children's database for adoption mooted

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development (Independent charge) Renuka Chowdhury has suggested linking of all adoption agencies and creation of a national database of children who could be adopted.

Inaugurating a two-day national meeting on adoption here on Thursday, the Minister said it was a matter of shame that illegal adoptions still take place in the country. "We have to set right the loopholes in the laws and in the system," she added.
