BANGALORE: The managing director of the Mangalore-based Karavali Ale group of newspapers, Rohini S., who was arrested on March 12 along with her husband, B.V. Seetharam, after their newspaper, Karavali Ale, published an article said to have hurt the sentiments of the Jain community, has criticised the Karnataka State Women's Commission for not responding to her complaint in a satisfactory manner. In a statement, Ms. Rohini said that though the Commission had received her complaint from Shimoga jail about her midnight arrest and illegal detention for 10 days by the Panambur and Sagar police, the chairperson Pramila Nesargi "has chosen to sleep over it". According to her, the reminder sent to the Commission requesting early investigation of the case had not been acknowledged. However, Ms. Nesargi had a different tale to tell. "But for my intervention, Ms. Rohini would not have been released. The moment I received the information, I contacted the police at Panambur and Sagar and asked them to release her immediately."
After that, Ms. Nesargi said, she neither contacted me nor updated the Commission about the incident. She had not received any communication from Ms. Rohini,
