`Implement Sachar proposals'

KADAPA: Awaaz leaders urged TDP Rajya Sabha member C. Ramachandraiah to raise the demand for implementation of Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee recommendations on social conditions of Muslims. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh promised its implementation in February this year, but is delaying action in that direction, Awaaz district president Faiyaz, general secretary S. Magbul Basha and leaders Mastan Vali, Mahabub Basha and S. Karimullah alleged in a memorandum submitted to him here. They feared that Sachar panel proposals will also be shelved like other reports.

Meanwhile, an Awaaz delegation called on CPI(M) national secretary Prakash Karat recently and requested him to exert pressure on the Central Government over the issue.
