ANANTAPUR: The mandal-level committees have selected 1,273 model farmers in 14 constituencies in the district and they will be trained from May 7 to 12 for two days each in batches of 100. Only 26 more model farmers are yet to be selected out of a total of 1,299 intended for the district. Joint Director of Agriculture P. Pothaiah on Saturday said that model farmers will be trained in subjects like agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, marketing, electricity, irrigation, sericulture, fisheries and others. They will act as coordinators between the Government and fellow farmers, he said. Training will be extended at Krishi Vignan Kendra, Reddypalli, Sheep Farm at Reddypalli, Agriculture Research Station at Kadiri, DWMA (MDT) Centre at Kalyanadurg and Sericulture Training Centre at Hindupur.
