HYDERABAD: A premium scientific agency under the National Security Adviser in the Prime Minister's Office, the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), will soon be located near Hyderabad. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy announced this at a meeting here on Saturday. NTRO's activities include aviation and remote sensing, data gathering and processing, cyber security, crypto systems, strategic hardware and software development and strategic monitoring. NTRO, which comprises National Institute of Cryptology Research and Development (NICRD), is said to be the first-of-its-kind in Asia. NICRD will create a pool of experts in information security. It will design and develop encryption products for national security applications and have state-of-the-art laboratories including simulation and digital fortress labs for financial security apart from strong linkages with academic institutions and industry. The move will have a catalytic effect on IT establishments in the State, creating security-related professionals, products and services as a spin-off to other sectors of economy, Dr. Reddy said. He said the NTRO will also have a Disaster Recovery Centre as part of a national information repository exchange. Among those present at the meeting were Chief Secretary J. Harinarayan and Principal Secretary, Revenue, M. Samuel.
