ISLAMABAD: Three private television channels found themselves off air in the Sindh province in the middle of live coverage of the ousted Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary's Islamabad-Lahore motorcade. Cable operators knocked off Geo, ARY and Aaj on a day that is being seen as a turning point in the lawyers' agitation in support of Mr. Chaudhary and against the Government. The Government and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority categorically denied having instructed cable operators to block the channels. But Geo said operators in the province claimed they had received the instructions from the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM), a Government ally that is equally powerful and feared in urban Sindh. The channel also said its efforts to reach MQM leaders were in vain.
