Baghlingampally residents' grievance solved within minutes

  • System of dealing with stray dog menace criticised
  • Complaint on slow pace of road widening work

HYDERABAD: The `Face-to-Face' programme of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Saturday proved beneficial for residents of Baghlingampally when their grievance was solved promptly, that too within 45 minutes.

A woman from Baghlingampally called up during the programme to complain about the non-functioning streetlights in Baghlingampally park. In-charge Minister for Hyderabad Mohd. Ali Shabbir asked the GHMC officials to rectify the problem within an hour. The GHMC officials later informed that the problem with the high-mast lamp in the park was rectified within 45 minutes.

    Dog menace

The system of dealing with stray dog menace was criticised in the programme. A resident of Begum Bazaar, Narayana, complained that the dog pound was very close to their locality and that the catchers were unable to control the dogs. "We will definitely check out this complaint to find out whether the dogs from other colonies are being released in different colonies after sterilisation," Special Commissioner for GHMC, Sanjay Jaju, promised.

Another caller complained that road widening at P.G. Road was going on at a snail's pace and till now a few structures were yet to be demolished and compensation given to the owners. He also pointed out that the newly constructed road dividers had not been spaced properly.

    Power problem

Mr. Jaju promised to provide enough spacing wherever it was possible. Another caller, Sudhir from Musheerabad, complained of frequent power shutdowns to only 20 houses in his locality while the rest of the houses in the nearby localities had power supply. Mr. Shabbir Ali assured of immediate action by Monday.

In all, the Minister and other municipal officials managed to attend 12 of the 38 calls received.
