VHP warning over Ram Setu

NEW DELHI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad chairman Ashok Singhal on Saturday told a gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers here that dismantling of Ram Setu, or Adam's Bridge, would not be tolerated and a countrywide movement would be launched if the Government did not heed their demand to stop it.

Alleging that the move for dismantling of the bridge was a conspiracy of the Congress, the Left parties and Dravida Munettra Kazhagam, Mr. Singhal said the Government only wanted to demoralise the Hindus. He warned that if the dismantling move was not stopped all the nationalist forces, saints and leaders of the BJP would join the agitation.

The VHP leader also accused the Central Government of "wanting to finish some beliefs of the Hindus deliberately".

he said.

The VHP will hold a mass meeting at Ramlila grounds here on May 27 where the participants would resolve to save the Ram Setu.
